RACE and the MSPCA-Angell have teamed up to bring you the 2nd Annual Doggy 5K Run & Walk. While open to all runners and walkers, this is Boston’s only road race for you AND your dog! Event proceeds benefit the Angell Animal Medical Center.
Scenic, oceanside course (view map here) around Pleasure Bay and Castle Island’s Fort Independence. Our 5K run/walk starts at 10am at South Boston’s scenic Castle Island. You’ll enjoy a scenic lap around Fort Independence and a lap around the causeway before finishing back where you started, 3.1 miles later. Cost: $30 in November (+$5 for dogs)

Day-of registration available 9am-9:45am; $5 late fee applies.
The race is open to humans running with or without dogs. To keep everyone (and every dog) safe, special rules apply for those running with a dog.
We strongly suggest that both the owner and dog train for this event. Runners, please begin training (you and your dog) at least four weeks in advance of the race. You should inspect your dog’s pads for signs of injury (cuts and wear) and be careful in warmer weather (carry water, keep runs short, watch your dog for signs of stress). Talk to your veterinarian if you have any concerns. We recommend jogging on trails or other locations where people run with their dogs, to acclimate your dog to running in a pack with distractions.
- Limit one dog per person. Dogs must be at least 6 months old and up to date on vaccinations.
- Please only bring dogs that are well-behaved around other dogs and people.
- Dogs should be kept on leash at all times.
- Leashes should be no longer than 6 feet; please keep it short at the start to avoid entanglement.
- No retractable leashes; they are hazardous in a crowd.
- Sorry; no dogs in heat.
- Please clean up after your dog.

Registration: Opens at 9am in the parking lot at Castle Island Park (at the end of Day Blvd.)
There is plenty of free parking in the lot and along Morissey Blvd.

Volunteers: Please plan to arrive at the Castle Island parking lot at 8am on Sunday.
